After the pandemic hit, many business owners and IT professionals found out firsthand if their current communications platform would offer enough flexibility to support remote employees. For the first time, employees were not able to access a physical office.

To address this issue, many business owners deployed a Unified Communications solution to allow their employees to do their job in the most efficient manner possible.

The experts at Cloud Collaboration Consultants outline the four ways a unified communications platform can support your remote employees.

Leverage Video

Video is the next best thing to a face to face meeting with a client, co-worker, or vendors. There is of course, “video fatigue” but being able to schedule a live video meeting allows for a better connection with your audience. Coffee dates, lunch, and business dinners are now done virtually with creative businesses bringing in executive chefs, wine tasting, etc.

Flexible Communications Tools

The goal is to offer your remote employees a choice. Leverage your smartphone, IPAD, or tablet by downloading a phone application from your Cloud Provider, or plug the IP Phone into a cable modem to offer a more traditional phone experience from a remote office. Encourage all of your employees to use the application, but give employees the option for a physical phone if they require one (you may find that most don’t).

Business Text/Messaging

Most remote employees don’t want to offer their cell phones for business text messaging. Unified Communications comes with a dedicated business phone number for each employee. The phone number is enabled to send and receive text messages. And if your employee were to leave the company, you would have access to all the business contacts and messages.

Enable Chat

Chat comes in many different forms. Still, for Unified Communications, chat allows employees to chat with their peers and open conversation with outside parties, including your customers and vendors. The discussion provides a timely response to common questions. It ensures your customers receive the highest level of service from your company, whether they are working from home or in the office.
